The Saarland is a small state in the south-west, bordering France and Luxembourg. The landscape is gently hilly, with forests, the Saar valley and the Bliesgau in the south. Its mix of woods, villages and small towns makes it a quiet setting for an offsite close to the French and Luxembourg borders.
From Luxembourg and Maastricht the Saarland is a short drive, and from Belgium and the south of the Netherlands it is a few hours by car. Saarbrücken has rail connections to Paris and Frankfurt, and regional trains serve the smaller towns, but for the forest villages the car is the most practical choice.
