Brandenburg surrounds Berlin and is a mostly rural state of forests, heath, lakes and the Spreewald wetlands. Potsdam and the Sanssouci palace park are the best-known sights, and the countryside has many country estates and manor houses that suit small groups and retreats. The quiet countryside leaves plenty of room for walks and outdoor sessions.
Brandenburg is easy to combine with a trip to Berlin, which has international flights from the Netherlands and Belgium. From there, regional trains connect the towns and the car takes you to the lakes and villages. For the countryside, the car is the most practical option.
